BTS Members RM and V Complete Military Service, Join Fans in Heartfelt Reunion
Chuncheon City, South Korea – K-pop sensations RM and V from BTS have officially completed their mandatory military service, marking a significant moment for both the artists and their ardent global fanbase. The duo was discharged on Tuesday, greeted by approximately 200 fans who had traveled from as far as Mexico, Turkey, and Brazil to witness the occasion.
Among the dedicated fans was Reina Lorena Quintero Sevilla, who journeyed nearly 18 hours from Mexico City. Overwhelmed with excitement, she remarked, “I swear, it didn’t feel that long because we’re so excited to be here, to watch the boys get released.” Her sentiments echoed the enthusiasm of many who cherish the band.
RM and V began their service in December 2023, following in the footsteps of fellow members Jin, J-Hope, and Suga, who had been conscripted earlier. Jin was discharged in June 2024, while J-Hope followed in October. The remaining members, Jimin and JungKook, are set to complete their service on Wednesday, with Suga, serving as a social service agent, scheduled for release later this month.
Under South Korea’s military conscription laws, all able-bodied men between ages 18 and 28 are required to serve 18 to 21 months. K-pop stars are not exempt but may postpone enlistment until age 30, a privilege that has been the subject of extensive debate. However, BTS management announced in 2022 that the group would fulfill its duties without seeking special exemptions.
The anticipation builds as all seven BTS members plan to reunite as a group in 2025, much to the delight of their passionate fanbase, known as ARMY.
