Ukraine-Russia War Update: Russian Missile Strike Claims Three Lives as North Korea-Backed Summer Offensive Looms

Trump Expresses Willingness to Participate in Peace Talks Between Russia and Ukraine, Says Erdogan

In a significant diplomatic development, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that former U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his willingness to join potential peace talks aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Erdogan disclosed this information following a NATO summit in The Hague, where he met Trump for the first time since his return to office.

Erdogan stated that Trump’s participation hinges on the agreement of Russian President Vladimir Putin. "He (Trump) said, ‘if Russian President Vladimir Putin comes to Istanbul or Ankara for a solution, then I will also come," Erdogan revealed to reporters. The Turkish leader emphasized his commitment to facilitating talks in Turkey, stating he aims to coordinate contacts to realize the meeting soon.

Amidst these developments, the situation on the battlefield remains tense. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the return of a fresh batch of Ukrainian prisoners of war as part of ongoing exchanges with Russia. He celebrated the return of soldiers, some of whom had been captives since 2022, expressing gratitude and determination to recover all individuals.

In further troubling news, South Korea’s intelligence agency raised alarms about Russia potentially launching a large-scale assault on Ukraine this summer, with the possibility of assistance from North Korean troops. Reports indicate that North Korea could dispatch approximately 6,000 soldiers to bolster Russian capabilities in the region. The Institute for the Study of War suggests this development would mark a significant shift on the battlefield, improving Russia’s offensive operations.

Meanwhile, Russian missile strikes continue to inflict casualties in Ukraine, underscoring the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to restore peace.
