Heartfelt Tribute: TikToker Preserves Late Husband’s Tattoo as Keepsake
In a poignant display of love, TikToker Angelica has taken a unique approach to honoring her late husband by preserving his tattoo as a cherished family keepsake. Sharing her story on TikTok, Angelica revealed that she had framed a piece of her husband’s skin featuring a tattoo of a skull adorned with the Pittsburgh Steelers logo—symbolic of his passion for the NFL team.
"My husband was the biggest Steelers fan. We preserved his real tattoo, his actual skin," Angelica stated on July 23, showcasing the framed piece. With over 70 tattoos to choose from, her son selected this specific design, believing it to be what his father would have wanted. "No, we don’t think it’s weird at all," she affirmed, recalling conversations they had about making such a preservation after her husband’s unexpected passing.
To bring this touching tribute to life, Angelica collaborated with Save My Ink Forever, a company specializing in tattoo preservation. They provided guidance for the mortician on how to extract the tissue and keep the tattoo intact. Once removed, the skin was sent to Ohio for a proprietary preservation process, which took approximately 90 days.
"It’s indescribable… a mix of emotions," Angelica expressed upon seeing the preserved tattoo. While she can’t physically touch it due to its encasement, the piece offers her a profound connection to her husband. She described the journey as unexpectedly healing for her and her family.
Through her story, Angelica hopes to inspire others to consider how they wish to be remembered. "Start treating this like you want to be in control of everything," she advised, emphasizing the importance of planning for one’s legacy.
