Key issues, primarily surrounding the state budget, remain unresolved, with a stark divide existing between House and Senate leaders on spending priorities and tax cuts.

The House and Senate are currently at odds over billions in proposed expenditures and tax reductions. House Speaker Danny Perez (R-Miami) expressed frustration last week with the Senate’s approach, accusing them of expecting the House to accept their budget with minimal adjustments. Meanwhile, Senate leaders, including Budget Chair Ed Hooper (R-Palm Harbor), assert that progress is being made, although they caution that any resolution may push discussions into next week due to the constitutionally mandated 72-hour waiting period for a final vote.
