West Boca Bulls Dominate Palm Beach Central in Season Opener

BOCA RATON, FL — The West Boca Bulls kicked off their football season with an impressive 50-7 victory against Palm Beach Central on Thursday night, showcasing their prowess on both sides of the ball.

Senior running back Javian Mallory, a University of Miami commit, led the charge with 111 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just seven carries. Mallory opened the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run, followed by a 14-yard score later in the first quarter, and capped his performance with a dazzling 58-yard touchdown run in the third. “It felt amazing to be back in action,” said Mallory, reflecting on his return after an injury.

The Bulls established a strong line of scrimmage early, leading 21-0 by the end of the first quarter. Despite a brief score from Palm Beach Central, the Bulls maintained control, entering halftime with a 21-7 advantage and extending their lead to 34-7 by the end of the third quarter.

West Boca’s defense was formidable, recording four turnovers, including a fumble return for a touchdown and an interception return for another score, underscoring coach Dylan Potts’ emphasis on creating opportunities for the offense. “Our defense showed up like they always do,” Potts stated.

The Bulls executed several strong drives, including a decisive 80-yard opening possession that set the tone for the night. Junior quarterback Trey Moran connected with junior wide receiver Billy Clancy on a 29-yard pass, facilitating an offensive showcase.

With this victory, the 2022 Class 6A state champions, now 1-0, demonstrated their readiness for the season ahead, blending a powerful ground game with a dominant defensive performance. Palm Beach Central, struggling at 0-2, will seek to regroup in upcoming games.
